Delivery Fee and services

Delivery anywhere in South Africa is R55 per six bottles of the same size. Orders over R1 500 are delivered free of charge.

Q: Why should I register an account profile?

You do not need to register an account profile to buy wines from the Vinotèque. However, doing so will enable us to save your details, saving you time at checkout the next time you shop with us. To register an account profile, please click "Register" at the top of the page.

Q: Does the Vinotèque have a newsletter?

Yes, we do. Please sign up online to ensure that you receive all the latest news and offers.

Q: How old do I have to be to buy wine from the Vinotèque?

You must be 18 years or older to buy wine.

Q: What if my order includes broken bottles?

Simply contact us within seven days of receiving your order on 021 809 8280 or email and we will attend to the situation as soon as possible.

Q: What is the minimum number of bottles per order?

All of our popular wines can be added to your cart as single bottles or cases. Alternatively, you can select a case for further maturation (where applicable).

Q: What happens if my order includes faulty wines?

If you open a bottle within three months of purchase and are not completely happy with it, please keep the bottle and contact us immediately. We will arrange for your wine to be collected when we deliver your replacement wines.

Q: How do I know that my online payments are secure?

We have partnered with PayGate – an industry leader in online payment solutions – to ensure that your online transactions are secure.

We make use of the latest SSL encryption, which encrypts all data sent from the browser to PayGate in such a way that only our servers can read it. Q: How does the Vinotèque's Maturation Service work?

If you prefer to nurture younger vintages to maturity, let us do it for you under perfect conditions in the Vinotèque cellar at the Bergkelder in Stellenbosch. Once they have reached optimal maturity, we will deliver them right to your door.

This service is available at a nominal fee of R115 per annum per case of 6, 12, 3L, 5L and 9L and is charged a year in advance from 1 July to 30 June. The annual Maturation Report ensures that you are kept up to date on the progress of your wine.

Q: How do I buy wine for further maturation?

If you wish to purchase wine and have us mature it for you in our Wine Bank, simply register a profile by clicking the "Register" button at the top of our home page and then, once you've decided which wine you'd like to purchase, click the "Add to Basket for Maturation" button during the checkout process.

We'll transfer the wine to your newly registered account and email you confirmation that your purchase is now in our maturation cellar. Annual Maturation fees are calculated on the 1st of July each year. Your invoice, stock sheet and Maturation Report will be emailed to you in August.

Q: How often is the Maturation Report published?

The Vinotèque Maturation Report is published annually. It assists our Maturation members in tracking the progress of their liquid investment, and ensuring optimal enjoyment once their wines have reached maturity. A panel of experienced Cellarmasters and winemakers taste the Vinoteque wines annually to ensure that the Maturation Report is as accurate as possible.

It is recommended that wines which are "Ready to drink" or "Enjoy now" be enjoyed within a year of the latest report to avoid disappointment. Ready-to-drink wines will not be included in future reports as these wines will not benefit from further maturation. Please contact us should you have wines that are ready to be enjoyed, and we will have them delivered to your door.

Q: Can I buy wine from the Vinotèque office in Stellenbosch?

We do not operate a traditional Wine Shop as all our wines are kept in our Maturation Cellar under optimal conditions in Stellenbosch. All purchases must therefore be made online. You are welcome to visit us at Bergkelder in Stellenbosch for advice on what to buy, or for payment and collections by prior arrangement.

Q: Why should I consider maturing certain wines?

Allowing wines that deserve to age the necessary time to evolve should not be too difficult if you have developed a love and appreciation for the beauty of older wines' elegant and mellow maturity.

Having your liquid investment mature under optimal conditions at the Bergkelder Vinotèque permits gorgeous changes to occur in the bottle – your wine becomes softer and better balanced, while gaining complexity and depth of character. Opening one of your wines after years of maturation should be one of life's ultimate pleasures. Simply sit back, relax and enjoy.
