Nederburg Private Bin R181 Merlot

Starting to age, the 2012 is turning the primary red fruit into more cooked dark fruit flavours with roasted coconut and coffee, and savoury complexity from varietal leafy notes, but also meaty tertiary notes. There is an alluring youthful spice to this wine, along with a good, fresh structure to last, but the concern is that the fruit is drying out in the long term. Best enjoyed in the coming years with salty mushroom and truffle dishes.
